The former head of CBC.ca has been named executive director of the Wikimedia Foundation, the nonprofit entity responsible for Wikipedia. Sue Gardner had served as an advisor to the board since July. Wikimedia is currently based in St. Petersburg, Fla. but will soon move to San Francisco.
